Introduction

LAW focuses on legal and ethical ways to fight oppression. Why? What’s the point? Countless people have been oppressed in the past, and millions will be oppressed in the future. We can’t stop that. There will always be poor and oppressed people. But this kind of reasoning leads to apathy, to defeatism. Perhaps we need to see things from a different perspective. Rescuing lives is not about saving the world. That can’t be done. But if you prevent one person from being tortured or starved to death, then isn't that worth the effort? In one way, helping one torture victim is like saving the world.

It is tempting to look away from the suffering which plague our planet. For many people it hurts too much to see the victims of organised crime, oppressed women in Iran, children shot dead by Israeli soldiers, indigenous groups destroyed by multinational firms in the Amazon. However, do you take responsibility for these victims? Do you have courage? Do you have courage like the Russian soldiers during World War II or the American soldiers who fought Saddam Hussein in Iraq?

30 000 children die each day because of gruesome hunger and horrifying diseases. They can easily be helped if we take money from the rich, and give them to the poor. One multi-billionaire can be forced to transfer 200 millions dollars to aid agencies in disaster areas. That can save thousands of children.

This website shows how successful militant operations can be conducted in a way which is probably legal according to the laws of necessity and self-defence. If you disagree that these laws can be used to justify militant actions against oppressive multinational corporations, please present your arguments in our discussion forum.
